Traumatic brain injury...

What is Traumatic brain injury or TBI?

Traumatic brain injury (TBI), also known as intracranial injury, occurs when an external force traumatically injures the brain. TBI can be classified based on severity, mechanism (closed or penetrating head injury), or other features (e.g., occurring in a specific location or over a widespread area). Head injury usually refers to TBI, but is a broader category because it can involve damage to structures other than the brain, such as the scalp and skull.

TBI can cause a host of physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral effects, and outcome can range from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. The 20th century saw critical developments in diagnosis and treatment that decreased death rates and improved outcome. Some of the current imaging techniques used for diagnosis and treatment include CT scans computed tomography and MRIs magnetic resonance imaging. Depending on the injury, treatment required may be minimal or may include interventions such as medications, emergency surgery or surgery years later. Physical therapy, speech therapy, recreation therapy, and occupational therapy may be employed for rehabilitation.

As for Hafiey,TBI terjadi apabila die jatuh dan kepalanya terhentak pada toilet bowl menyebabkan skull nyer pecah dan berlaku internal bleeding di dlm kepala...

kawasan yang affected ialah left frontotemporal or frontal lobe with midline shifted to 5mm...boleh nampak bhgn otak kanan di bhgn atas juga shifted disbbkan blood clot....

Fungsi fronto lobe :

What do each of these lobes do?
  • Frontal Lobe- associated with reasoning, planning, parts of speech, movement, emotions, problem solving and personality
  • Parietal Lobe- associated with movement, orientation, recognition, perception of stimuli
  • Occipital Lobe- associated with visual processing
  • Temporal Lobe- associated with perception and recognition of auditory stimuli, memory, and speech
Untuk Hafiey, changes can be seen in personality. Personality die berubah drpd sblm nih xnak kat org skang sume org die nak gi even dgn strangers.

Banyak terapi yg perlu dilakukan buat masa sekarang seperti physiotheraphy dan occupational theraphy.

Every child with brain injury have the potential to recover provided intensive rehabilitation being given to them, insyaAllah. Bagi ibu bapa yg mempunyai anak yg mengalami brain injury, do not lost hopes. Search for the info what is the treatment and what should we do. Banyakkan membaca dan banyakkan mencari info so that we can do the best for our kids.

Is that all that we need to do?

Sedangkan each baby have the potential to recover.
